147th Death Anniversary of late Gate Mudaliyar Jeronis De Soysa

The annual Service of Thanksgiving and Remembrance to commemorate the 147th Death Anniversary of our late revered founder Gate Mudaliyar Jeronis De Soysa who was called to rest on 28th May 1862, was held at the 7.00 a.m. Holy Communion Service at the Holy Emmanuel Church Moratuwa at which nearly 400 parishioners were present.
 
A sheaf of orchid flowers was placed at the grave opposite the Chancel step of the Church by the Warden Secretary Oclen Fernando in the presence of the other Wardens and  two descedents of the founder namely Mr. Ranil De Soysa (son of the late Carlos De Soysa a former Warden of our Church ) and Mr. E Ajantha De Soysa (grand son of the late E.L.F.De Soysa)
 
The Incumbent Revd. Nilanga Gunasekara who was the celebrant and preacher at the Holy communion Service delivered a very inspiring sermon on the life and work of the founder of our Church and the contribution he made lavishly to both the Church and State
